Pediatric Emergency Medicine Associates was formally established in February of 2000, but the origin of the practice dates back to 1984, when Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital unveiled Atlanta’s first freestanding pediatric emergency room. Initially staffed by four pediatricians with a special interest in acute care, the practice has grown to more than 50 pediatric emergency medicine Board certified pediatricians and mid-level practitioners.
Currently, PEMA manages more than 100,000 patient encounters per year in three metropolitan area hospital-based facilities. The practice is focused on providing efficient, high quality medical care to ill and injured children, as well as aggressively expanding their research and education activities.
